Desta PLC was founded in 1993 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by Mrs. Desta and Mr. Bekele. Starting in a modest 100-square-meter private garage, we quickly grew, acquiring 2,400 square meters of land and building a three-story factory within two years. Our initial focus was on innovative jelly shoes using an Italian rotary injection molding-molding machine. As demand surged, we expanded our production to include full plastic shoes, soles, and various shoelaces. In 2008, we pivoted to textile and garment manufacturing, becoming the largest collar and cuff producer and the second-largest embroidery manufacturer in Ethiopia. This expansion led to the construction of an additional three-story building, enhancing our production capacity. Today, Desta is transforming into a major garment production hub with our new Butajira facility, located 130 kilometers from Addis Ababa. This 12,000-square-meter facility on a 30,000-square-meter plot houses 20 production lines, significantly boosting our capacity to fulfill large orders efficiently. Desta PLC continues to grow, committed to delivering quality and innovation in garment manufacturing.
