Key Responsibilities of an IT Support Officer

1. Technical Troubleshooting

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for staff and students
Provide first-line and escalated support for computers, printers, projectors, and other equipment

2. System & Network Maintenance

Maintain and monitor school computers, servers, and internet connectivity
Install, update, and configure operating systems and software applications
Perform regular maintenance checks to prevent downtime

3. User Support & Training

Assist staff and students with day-to-day technology use
Provide basic training on software tools, computer labs, and safe internet use
Respond promptly and courteously to IT support requests

4. Security & Data Protection

Implement and enforce IT security practices (antivirus, password policies, safe browsing)
Back up important data regularly and ensure recovery procedures are in place
Monitor for unauthorized access or misuse of school systems

5. Inventory & Documentation

Maintain records of hardware, software licenses, and equipment inventory
Document recurring issues and solutions for future reference
Track warranty and maintenance schedules for equipment
